Freddie is Back!

Freddie Freeman will be back in action tonight for the Atlanta Braves, as he has been activated from the 15-Day Disabled List. Freeman, who has developed a reputation for being an iron man in his short career, is coming off his second DL stint this season. The team got him back in late July following a wrist injury, but it wasn’t long before he found himself on the DL once again with an oblique injury. Either way, the Braves have not had Freeman on the field much since June 18th… he has only played in 10 games. Freddie is undoubtedly the face of the franchise and the catalyst of our offense, so it’ll be great seeing him on the field and offering hugs in the dugout. There’s absolutely no question how big of an impact Freeman has on opposing pitchers and his teammates in the lineup. Nick Swisher and Joey Terdoslavich also haven’t proved to be the strongest options at first base in Freeman’s absence, so the Braves get a huge boost in that regard, offensively and defensively. Terdo was optioned to AAA Gwinnett in the corresponding roster move. Freeman also has help on the way within the next week or so in Hector Olivera. While the Braves are seemingly out of the playoff race, it’ll be good for Braves fans to get to see what our new lineup will look like down the stretch. It’s great to have Freddie back, and we hope he can remain healthy for the remainder of the season.
