Hawks and Jahlil Okafor agree to a deal

DHZ191124077 NO vs LAC

The Hawks have signed the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft to a contract:

Last year, over 27 games with the Pistons, Okafor averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game over 12.9 minutes. Okafor is largely considered a draft bust, but he could still be a solid depth piece in case injury strikes. It’s always been said that Okafor would have been a perfect big for the NBA in the 80s and 90s because a lot of his game doesn’t translate to today’s NBA.

He’s a back-to-the-basket center without much of an outside or defensive game. He was an incredible low-post scorer at Duke, but he didn’t offer much else. He’s not an elite athlete, defender, or rebounder — but he should be able to give the Hawks some buckets down low off the bench in a pinch.
