Hawks have the sixth-easiest remaining schedule

According to Tankathon, the Atlanta Hawks have the sixth-easiest remaining schedule for the second half of the NBA season.

The Hawks’ strength of schedule — combined winning percentage of their opponents — of .489 makes the sting of Tuesday night’s embarrassing loss hurt a little less. Last night’s blowout of the Celtics helped a bit in that regard as well. Atlanta now sits just a game out of the final playoff spot in the East, and they should also begin to get healthier as their schedule lightens up down the stretch.

Last night, Danilo Gallinari had a franchise-record 10 threes in the win over the Celtics, while Trae Young seemed to be proving exactly why he should’ve been an All-Star — out-dueling the duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum — two Eastern Conference All-Stars. The Hawks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, which is a pleasant surprise considering the atrocious amount of leads blown this season.

Tankathon lists the Hawks’ hardest remaining opponents as the Clippers, Lakers, Suns (twice), and 76ers (twice) — only one in the Eastern Conference. Once the Hawks start getting key players back, the run that everybody has been waiting for could be in the cards.

The schedule will be a lot less difficult in the second half. Will they capitalize is the age-old question, though? Tankathon has the easiest opponents as the Wizards (twice), Rockets (twice), Cavaliers, and Pistons, but the Hawks have shown all season that they shouldn’t underestimate anyone. They are a combined 0-6 versus the Hornets, Knicks, and Cavs.
