The possible Fred VanVleet of this draft is still available.

Myles Powell won Big East player of the year in 2020 after posting 21 PPG. He was also named a first-team All-American and brought home the Jerry West award. While I understand WHY Powell wasn’t drafted, he was far better than a lot of players taken before him. His shooting wasn’t very efficient (39.8%, 30.6% 3P), but if you take a look at his 2018-2019 season, his shooting numbers were much better — 44.7% and 36.3% from three.

Even though Powell isn’t a fantastic distributor of the basketball, there’s so much projectability and scoring talent with this guy; he reminds me a lot of Carsen Edwards from the 2019 draft. I think he’s well worth scooping as an UDFA or on a two-way deal with as many problems as the Hawks have had at backup point guard. With the rumors of Rajon Rondo being interested in Atlanta and Brandon Goodwin’s $1.7 million salary guaranteed, Powell will have plenty of time to develop and eventually become a factor off of Atlanta’s bench.
