Along with reporting that Cam Reddish is drawing trade interest from several teams, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Travis Schlenk and the rest of the Hawks front office are expected to receive contract extensions. Assistant General Manager Landry Fields is also in line to be named the General Manager under Schlenk.

Hawks president of basketball operations Travis Schlenk and members of his front office are expected to receive contract extensions by next offseason, sources said. Assistant general manager Landry Fields is trending toward being promoted to the Hawks’ general manager under Schlenk, those sources added.

Since becoming the Hawks GM in 2017, everything Schlenk touches has turned to gold. He was hired because he was a draft guru that was partly responsible for building the Warriors dynasty, and he hasn’t disappointed in that aspect — drafting Trae Young, John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, and Cam Reddish, among others, in just a few years. There’s no questioning that Schlenk is the right man to continue to lead this organization forward.

Fields was named the Assistant General Manager of the Hawks in October of 2020, and clearly, he’s impressed in just a couple of years. The five-year NBA veteran is still just 33-years-old, which would make him the youngest General Manager in The Association.
