Hawks: Was Trae Young snubbed from an All-NBA team?

The All-NBA teams were released last night, which always leads to people talking about snubs the next day. Here are the three teams.

Unsurprisingly — at least to me (and not because he doesn’t deserve it) — Trae Young was not selected. In fact, he only received two third-team votes, one of which came from the Hawks beat writer at The Athletic, Chris Kirschner.

There were some notable other snubs like Russell Westbrook, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, and Donovan Mitchell; they’ve all been talked about at length this afternoon, but I don’t think that’s the biggest issue. I’m not saying Young should have ultimately made one of All-NBA teams; although I do think he was just as — if not more — deserving than players like Kyrie Irving, Paul George, Bradley Beal, and Jimmy Butler. However, it’s the fact that he’s not even really mentioned as a snub.

Hopefully, this narrative changes after the playoffs. Young is a winning player that has carried this Hawks team. These 25+ points and 9+ assists every night aren’t empty stats; he is one of the most unstoppable offensive players in the league. His playmaking is actually his best attribute, his range is limitless, and his floater might be the most effective in the NBA. I’m not saying there weren’t six more deserving guards, but the fact that Young wasn’t even in the conversation is insanity.
