Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that Travis Schlenk “is Atlanta’s choice to become new general manager and the sides are entering into contact talks.” Wojnarowski is never wrong about these things, and given the Warriors success in recent years, it makes sense that Atlanta would take a long look at Schlenk to fill the position.

Schlenk has been under Warriors GM Bob Meyer’s wing for five years now, and has been in the organization long enough to watch them grow into the super team they are today. He has held nearly every title in the Warriors organization from video coordinator to director of player personnel.

Wojnarowski suggested in his report that a deal could be reached as early as Wednesday. The Hawks have numerous major decisions to make this offseason, including the impending free agency of all-star Paul Millsap. Schlenk has experience building championship teams from the ground up, so a rebuild could be in the cards for Atlanta.
