Injured Braves are getting closer to their returns

Both Kevin Gausman and Ender Inciarte are rehabbing tonight in the minors. Gausman will start for Mississipi, and Inciarte will play center field for the Stripers after spending the last two games in AA.

Gausman only has one rehab start since being placed on the IL with plantar fasciitis. It took place in High-A ball for the Florida Fire Frogs. He only gave up three hits in five innings but one of those was a costly home run. It wasn’t a bad outing, though, and Gausman will look to build on it tonight.

Inciarte has been rehabbing since July 1st, beginning in High-A as well. His numbers weren’t the best (1-13), but there were no setbacks, and he played two games in Mississippi before joining the Stripers tonight. In his last appearance, he went 2-2 with a stolen base.

The real question here is what do the Braves do with these two going forward. Gausman seems to have lost his spot in the rotation. Although, the Braves could always use another bullpen arm. That could be his next stop when, or if, the organization decides to bring him back to Atlanta. Inciarte is a different story. He’s a productive player, especially defensively, and should be on a major league roster, but the Braves have no room for him. He will assuredly be the subject of trade talks; however, if that does not work, he could be in the minors for a while.
