Is Damontae Kazee’s time with the Falcons over?

This could mean a multitude of things, perhaps he just misses playing football, but it looks like Damontae Kazee has signaled the end of his Falcons career on his Instagram story.

Kazee led the NFL in interceptions in 2018 after being a fifth-round pick out of San Diego State in 2017. He was pretty productive in 2019, but like with most of the Falcons defense, 2020 was a year to forget as he tore his Achilles.

With limited cap space available, it wouldn’t serve as a shock if Kazee is playing somewhere else in 2021. He’s an unrestricted free-agent; however, I don’t imagine he will cost that much on the open market after such a severe injury. With so many holes to fill, Kazee could provide the value Terry Fontenot is looking for this offseason. He was undoubtedly the best player out of an awful 2017 draft class, and the Falcons have a glaring need at safety. Ricardo Allen has already been cut, and Keanu Neal is also a free-agent. You would think Atlanta would bring at least one of them back, but with a new regime in place, a total overhaul could be in the cards.
