Jim Nagy calls out Terry Fontenot for missing Senior Bowl

NFL: NOV 03 Cowboys at Falcons

Say what you want about the Falcons, but you can’t say they are a boring franchise. While Kirk Cousins puts his foot in his mouth about being hurt, which effectively cost the Falcons a playoff berth, Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl Jim Nagy is calling out Terry Fontenot.

“Reese’s Senior Bowl would like to thank General Managers from 26 #NFL clubs for attending this year’s. Of teams not represented, three didn’t have GMs in place (JAX, LV, NYJ) and two (KC, PHI) are playing in #SuperBowl.”

I have a few thoughts on this:

First and foremost, we have no idea what Terry Fontenot was doing, and it very well could’ve been a personal matter that needed his attention. We obviously hope that isn’t the case. If it isn’t:

Terry Fontenot zigging while every other GM is zagging is just par for the course and another example of the Falcons not having the proper management in place. His presence could’ve given the Falcons more information on a player, good or bad. Getting more face time is also never a bad thing, especially when Fontenot has a pretty notable quarterback he’s trying to trade this offseason.

Is this really going to impact the Falcons? Probably not. But again, it’s another example where the Falcons aren’t paying attention to the details in a game where it comes down to inches.
