Josef Martinez will miss Saturday’s game vs OCSC

After missing two straight training sessions, Tata Martino announced Thursday that Josef Martinez will not be available for the second straight week.

When healthy, Martinez has scored nine goals in as many appearances. The Venezuelan is undoubtedly one of the MLS’ most dangerous strikers, and thrives in his role as the lone forward in Tata’s scheme. Thankfully, Atlanta has a reliable fill in in Tito Villalba, who scored the game winning goal last week.

This is not Martinez’ first time being sidelined with injury. A quad injury benched the 24-year-old for three months previously in the season, and Atlanta has played 11 games without him. The Five Stripes showed some good form during that time, so let’s hope that it will continue this Saturday.
