McCreery, Parsons get promoted to the Braves

Wes-Parsons-3

The first game of the doubleheader did not go as planned. Max Fried had to leave the game early and has now landed on the disabled list. Shane Carle struggled mightily in relief duty, and he will be headed to the disabled list as well:

McCreery is a tall left-hander that the Braves acquired from the Angels a couple seasons ago for Jhoulys Chacin. He has really stepped up his strikeout numbers since joining the Braves farm system and has had some success. However, walks have been a problem for him, which is not what Braves fans love to hear. He also had just been promoted from AA Mississippi, so he did not really get to develop any further in AAA.

Wes Parsons has been dominant this year in the Braves farm system and has been kind of a lost name in the mix of all the talented pitching the Braves have. He has been great as a starter for Mississippi and Gwinnett and could be a valuable addition to a Braves bullpen that has been much improved lately.

Now, of course, these are emergency call-ups, so these guys may not be up long. However, it will be fun to see a couple talented youngsters get a crack at the big leagues.
