My All 25 & Under Dream Team

trout_mike640

I decided to take a break from the bleeding Atlanta Braves (still love you guys) to compose my Dream Team composed of players 25 and under. I’ll compose a starting lineup with a 5 man rotation and closer for my PERSONAL favorites under 25. They may not be the best or most developed; but they’re players that I:

1. Enjoy watching

2. Think will be great

3. Are already great

4. Have a good attitude. (Not you, Machado.)

Starting 5

RHP- Sonny Gray, Oakland A’s

RHP Gerrit Cole, Pittsburgh Pirates

RHP Shelby Miller, Atlanta Braves

RHP Lucas Giolito, Washington Nationals

LHP Madison Bumgarner, San Fransisco Giants. (Turns 26 Aug 1st)

Note; Jose Fernandez was left off due to attitude, he’s an amazing talent. I was going to put deGrom but it turns out he’s actually 27? Wacha gets honorable mention.

1B- Freddie Freeman, Atlanta Braves

No, this isn’t me being a homer. Freddie is a .300 hitter with a sweet swing, amazing defense, and great power. Rizzo is my second choice, who is easily my 2nd favorite 1st baseman in baseball. Paul Goldschmidt is 27, so he is ruled out on this list.

2B- Jose Altuve, Houston Astros

The 3 time all star is a career .303 hitter with 30 home runs and 59 steals, with his good speed, he’s a prototypical 2nd baseman. Excellent player with good hustle, a great addition to any team.

SS- Corey Seager, Los Angeles Dodgers

When Jimmy Rollins hangs up his spikes, Seager will hit the scene. The younger brother of Kyle, he’s ranked the #1 Prospect in the MLB by most baseball sources. He may move to third, but for now he’s batting .273 with 9 HRs for Oklahoma City (AAA). Seager has high expectations. Carlos Correa, who is having an excellent rookie year, is my second choice. Simmons is third.

3B- Kris Bryant, Chicago Cubs

This is by far the toughest pick. Bryant, Arenado, Rendon, and Machado are all good choices. Bryant has the most upside and power . Machado would take this, but his poor attitude and child like behavior has no place on this team. Bryant is hitting .251 with 15 HRs and 59 RBIs.

C- Salvador Perez, Kansas City Royals

I like Tyler Stephenson, but he’s only 19. Kyle Schwarber is only 19. Perez is a 3 time all star, 2 time gold glover, and has a career .280 average. Very solid, young, backstop.

OF- Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels

The easiest pick of all. Trout has hammered a Major League leading 31 Home runs this year, is batting .310, and has swiped 10 bags. By far my favorite player in the bigs.

OF- Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins

How can you not pick a guy who hits a baseball like Dustin Johnson hits a golf ball? He’s your cleanup guy. Career .270 hitter with 181 Home Runs ALREADY. Most dangerous man in baseball.

OF Joc Pederson, Los Angeles Dodgers

Joc has already crushed in his first full year of MLB action. He’s a lefty with a sweet swing (reminds me of Griffey’s), with great speed. Joc is known for his DEEP home runs, and finished 2nd in the home run derby to Todd Frazier. A table setter who can hit bombs? Yes, please.

Note; Yes, Bryce Harper is not on this list. Maybe when he starts running out fly balls i’ll consider it.

Honorable Mention; Heyward, Hosmer, Urias, Springer, Springer, Gallo and a slew of prospects.
