Paul Soliai To Be Released

The Falcons have decided it’s time to part ways with veteran defensive lineman Paul Soliai. This move comes just a couple seasons after he was signed to a relatively lucrative contract by the team. However, things are different in Atlanta and Flowery Branch these days, and Soliai proved to be a faulty fit for Dan Quinn’s more versatile-style defense. This called for a reduced role for the former Dolphin in 2015. If the move is made after the new league year, the Falcons will save $1.4 million in cap space for 2016. The Falcons are in the mid-tier of the league when it comes to cap space, so it appears this move is simply the team cutting ties with a guy who is better suited to play elsewhere. Dan Quinn will continue to bring in more personnel who better fit his style of defense in year two. The Utah product has expressed interest in returning to the Miami:

We wish Soliai the best… when he’s not suiting up against the Falcons.
