Braves Country woke up still buzzing from last night’s division-clinching win over the Phillies, and things only got better this afternoon. According to Eric Cole of Talking Chop, the Braves will call up Spencer Strider after making one more appearance in Gwinnett.

Now, this may not be the case, but there’s only one reason the Braves would make this move this late in the season — to see if he could contribute in the playoffs. Strider is a starter by trade, but I imagine he will be used in a relief role against the Mets. If you haven’t read the multitude of articles we’ve written about him, here’s a reason to be excited.

Nothing to see here, just a smooth 100 MPH, and there were other times during his Gwinnett debut where he was clocked at 101.

Strider, who was a fourth-round pick in last year’s draft, has rocketed up the system. He began the year with the Augusta Green Jackets — the Braves A-ball affiliate. Strider dominated with Augusta, and it continued in Rome, but he did run into a bit of speed bump in Mississippi, recording an ERA near five over 14 starts. Still, the Braves didn’t hesitate to move him to Gwinnett, and now they are giving him a shot in Atlanta. Depending on how his debut goes, there’s a chance he could land on the roster for the NLDS.

Update: According to Mark Bowman, Strider will be joining the Braves tonight.
