Top 10 Atlanta Hawks All-Time: Number 8

Coming in at number 8 on the list is Kevin Willis. The 7 footer played in parts of 11 seasons with the Hawks. He was drafted by the franchise in 1984 with the 11th overall pick. He would team up with Doc Rivers and Dominique Wilkins in one of the best teams in Atlanta history. He was seemingly a walking double-double every night, and had a ridiculous season in 1992 in which he averaged 18.3 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. Yea, that’s pretty good. Those numbers were good enough to get him his lone All-Star appearance and a spot on the All-NBA Third Team. The fact that he only made the All-Star team once shows how underappreciated Willis was, even if he did play in one of the best eras the game has seen. The Hawks traded Willis to the Heat in 1994, and he would go on to play for eight more teams in his career. He won a ring with the Spurs in 2003. Despite this, he will always be remembered as a Hawk. In 2004, he returned to the Hawks for a season at age 42, making him the oldest player in the NBA. He always kept himself in great shape, allowing him to play until he was 44. That is simply unbelievable when you consider he is a big man. He now runs an Atlanta based clothing company that makes clothing for men… well, Kevin Willis’ size. He will forever be an Atlanta icon.
