Braves: Watch Ronald Acuña Jr. take BP on the field for first time since injury

Acuna

The Braves are coming off an improbable World Series run and their first championship since 1995, but what some people outside of Atlanta may forget is the team did it without their best player in Ronald Acuña Jr., who had surgery in July of last year to fix a torn ACL. He would go on to miss the rest of the season, including the Braves’ magical run to the Commissioner’s Trophy.

Despite unprecedented progress, Acuna is likely to be limited if/when players report to Spring Training at the end of February. Being ready for Opening Day depends on whether he can run and gun leading up to April. All signs point to that, though.

There are still many steps for him to clear, but he’s rehabbing nicely. On Wednesday, Acuña took on-field batting practice for the first time since undergoing surgery.
