Three Observations From Falcons-Titans

1. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones Are Currently in Midseason Form

Two guys Falcons fans do not have to worry about are Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. In the short time they were in, they connected on all cylinders. It seemed like a masterpiece to watch. Jones had four catches for 61 yards and a beautiful touchdown after stopping on a dime. Ryan was perfect, going 6/6 for 86 yards and a touchdown. This was no fluke, and expect both players to have an incredible 15′-16′ NFL season.

2. Dan Quinn Has Changed This Team for the Better

“Fast and Physical” is what Dan Quinn would like to see his team perform each and every game. Judging by this first exhibition, he wasn’t lying whatsoever. The first-team defense played exceptionally well. The defensive line bulldozed their way to Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota for the short time they were in. The linebackers and secondary were quicker to the ball, as Justin Durant had an interception and Paul Worrilow had a scoop-and-score. There was plenty to be proud of during this game, and it looks like Quinn has instilled that catchphrase into his players’ minds.

3. T.J. Yates’ Job is in Jeopardy

To be perfectly honest, T.J. Yates did not perform up to the expectations of what is expected of him. I understand Yates won a playoff game for the Texans in 2012, but that is the past. Renfree outplayed Yates on Friday night, and looks to be the backup after his performance. Renfree finished 6/7 for 68 yards with zero turnovers. Turnovers are key to determine if a quarterback is ready or not, so look for that to play a huge factor in this QB battle.
