Trae Young won taken home the Rookie of the Year for the month of October/November:

Young had his doubters coming into the league, but he is off to a hot start.

He is averaging 15.7 points per game and 7.6 assists. His elite playmaking ability and vision has been on full display as he had added life to this Atlanta Hawks team, and he looks like he can be the first true star the team has had in nearly two decades.

Of course, it has not been all good. Young has been inconsistent, and a terrible shooting skid has seen his 3-point shooting percentage deflate to 24.8 percent.

While the shooting percentage could be higher, we all know they will fall with time. Young has seemingly unlimited range. All rookies take their lumps and Young is no different. He is still being noticed for his abilities early and is justifying the team’s controversial draft day trade, though Luka Doncic also earned the award for the Western Conference.

It is also worth mentioning that the Hawks have given Young the keys day one, and is likely the focal point of opponents’ game plans. Considering the circumstances, he has handled the responsibilities well.

Congratulations to Trae, and we expect more greatness in the future.
