Braves luck out in series against Padres

The Braves are winners of six straight as the club continues its road trip in San Diego starting Monday night. Atlanta is coming off back-to-back series sweeps of the Royals and Reds, gearing up for a date with the Padres, who dominated the Braves in Atlanta earlier in the month.

The Braves were victorious in the home opener, but the Padres’ star power led to a 3-1 series loss. They lost a back-and-forth contest on Friday, which was followed by a 4-1 defeat on Saturday and a 10-2 demolishing on Sunday Night Baseball.

Despite the Padres sub-.500 record, the club is still one of the most talented in baseball and will be even more dangerous when Fernando Tatis Jr. returns from Triple-A El Paso.

Entering Sunday’s game, Tatis boasted a .536/.618/1.250 slash line with six homers, six walks, and two strikeouts in seven games. That’s a home run every other at-bat. He’s ready to return to San Diego.

Tatis, returning from his 80-game suspension for violating baseball’s Joint Drug Policy, will rejoin the major league club on Thursday, which is great timing for the Braves, who will finish out their season series with the Padres on Wednesday night.
