Some baseball players go their entire career without hitting a grand slam. It’s one of the greatest feelings of a player’s life. Well, what about two in one game!?
Vaughn Grissom, the Braves sixth-ranked prospect, mashed a pair of grand slams in back-to-back innings while adding a double and a single, scoring five times in High-A Rome’s 22-1 throttling of Asheville.
Grissom is slashing .288/.378/.451 with eight homers, 39 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases in 53 games. The 21-year-old has been on a tear this month. Grissom had three hits in each of the first two games against Asheville before Thursday’s explosion, which raised his month-long slash line to .377/.431/.604 across 13 games. It seems a promotion to AA is imminent for the former 11th-round pick.
