Desmond Ridder as a Christmas movie character

NFL: SEP 17 Packers at Falcons

It’s the holidays, and for Christmas, I want Santa to bring my Falcons a franchise quarterback.

Though Arthur Smith’s job is in question, Desmond Ridder’s is not. He won’t be the starting signal caller this time in 2024. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t be on the Falcons. Contrary to popular belief, Ridder would be the ideal backup, given his cheap contract and familiarity with the team.

He’s incredibly selfless and willing to do whatever his team needs of him. Moreover, the Falcons wouldn’t need him to do anything more than support the starter in his preparation and potentially come off the bench in a pinch.

Ridder’s time in Atlanta as a starter is over, prompting many fans to begin to make jokes. The best I’ve seen comes from SB Nation. If you’re a big Christman fan and don’t like Desmond Ridder, this one should make you chuckle.

Nobody wants to play with poor, broken, cast-out Desmond.

SB Nation came up with a Christmas movie character for each starting quarterback, and Ridder’s couldn’t be more accurate, to a certain extent because there is one person who wants to play with Ridder — Arthur Smith. If his job wasn’t in question, I guarantee the Falcons would be starting Desmond Ridder once again this week against the Colts.
