Falcons are betting favorites to win NFC South in 2024

When the 2025 Super Bowl odds were released, Falcons fans were taken by surprise.

At the time, Atlanta sat with 33-1 odds, which was the same odds as the Browns, Rams, and Jaguars, according to BetOnline. Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Jacksonville have better quarterback situations than the Falcons, so it was a bit shocking.

The odds tell me that Vegas anticipates Atlanta making substantial improvements to the position, and that theme continues in the division. The Falcons are currently the odds-on favorites to win the NFC South, according to FanDuel.

  • Falcons +140
  • Buccaneers +240
  • Saints +280
  • Panthers +700

Free agency and the draft still haven’t happened, so as currently constructed, the Saints should be favorites. Derek Carr is by far the best quarterback in the division; however, that’s not how Vegas works.

It is the oddsmakers’ job to predict the future to a certain extent, and what these odds tell me, similar to the Falcons Super Bowl odds, is that Vegas believes Atlanta and Tampa Bay are going to bring in better signal callers.

The Bucs are expected to pursue a new deal with Baker Mayfield, which would make sense if they’ve got better odds than the Saints. Moreover, Vegas is clearly expecting the Falcons to make a significant upgrade to the position.

From the reports and rumors that have been circulating, that would point to Kirk Cousins coming to Atlanta. Additionally, the Vikings currently sit with the third-best odds in the NFC North at +420 behind the Lions at +145, Packers at +230, and ahead of the Bears at +440.

That right there should tell you all you need to know about what Vegas thinks. They believe the Falcons will acquire a quarterback that can win right now.
