Falcons cut two unexpected players to make room for recent acquisitions

The Falcons are making moves, releasing Mike Ford and Dean Marlowe to make room for the recent acquisitions of Matt Dickerson and Chuma Edoga.

I say these were unexpected players to be released because both were set to have a significant impact on special teams, whereas Dickerson and Edoga aren’t as well versed. Marlowe being released leaves the Falcons with only three safeties, but if any injury were to arise, Teez Tabor has been stashed on the practice squad for emergencies. Ford was getting notable reps as the team’s nickel back, but the emergence of Dee Alford clearly made Ford expendable. Even with these two transactions, the Falcons are probably not done tweaking the roster.
