Falcons: Desmond Trufant won’t play against the Cardinals

As if the Falcons needed any more problems, Dan Quinn announced their #1 cornerback, Desmond Trufant, will be out for Sunday’s showdown against the Cardinals.

Trufant has been the Falcons’ most reliable corner this season, although that isn’t saying too much. Isaiah Oliver has performed miserably, which makes this news even more concerning. It was thought Oliver might be benched in favor of rookies Kendall Sheffield and Jordan Miller after a miserable start to his season. Now, Dan Quinn doesn’t have a choice but to utilize him again.

If there is any hope of saving their season, the Falcons have to come up with a victory on the road against a Cardinals team that will not lay down. Kyler Murray has looked legit, and Kliff Kingsbury will dial up some looks that will cause confusion for a secondary that lacks experience. These young guys need to step up, or Atlanta will come home for a matchup with the Rams at 1-5.
