Falcons have similar odds of landing Jordan Love as winning NFC South in 2022

The Green Bay Packers quarterback controversy is dominating headlines around the NFL. Whether Aaron Rodgers returns to Lambeau for one more season has yet to be determined by the back-to-back league MVP, but speculation is running rampant. Trade machines are working overtime for fans of the Broncos, Steelers, Raiders, Eagles, and a few others as they dream of the day their favorite team trades for Rodgers.

However, oddsmakers still feel the most likely scenario in 2022 is Rodgers returning to Green Bay, which has caused many media pundits to generate trades involving Jordan Love. It’s easy to understand why people are doing this: it’s exciting and garners clicks. Still, I don’t see the Packers trading Love regardless of what Rodgers decides.

That hasn’t stopped the boys in Vegas at putting lines out for where Love will play, and the Falcons are on the shortlist of trade destinations. According to Bovada’s sportsbook, Love has +550 odds to play in Atlanta next season.

Those are long-shot odds for the Falcons to land Love if you’re not into gambling, meaning it more than likely won’t happen. So, when you see this next future, it might not be an easy pill for Falcon fans to swallow. Atlanta is +500 to take home the division title in 2022.

The Buccaneers, who just lost Tom Brady, are the favorites even though they’re sure to lose a bevy of contributors from their Super Bowl team a couple of seasons ago. The Saints, who just lost Sean Payton, follow closely behind. And the Panthers, who finished two games behind the Falcons in 2021, have slightly better odds than the Falcons.

The Falcons have 16.67% implied odds of winning the NFC South and 15.38% implied odds of landing Jordan Love. Given how unlikely I feel about the Falcons landing Love, I’d say them winning the division in 2022 is incredibly out of reach.
