The Falcons have been very busy this Monday. First, it was announced the club would be acquiring Jonnu Smith from the Patriots, reuniting the former Titans tight end with Arthur Smith in Atlanta. Then, a five-year, $105 million contract extension with Chris Lindstrom was announced. Now, it’s the free agent deal that we’ve all been waiting for… Keith Smith!

Outside of maybe Brian Daboll, nobody did more with less than Arthur Smith last season. He brought back ’90s football with Parker Hesse and Keith Smith leading the way as the team’s H-back and fullback.

Despite having one of the least talented rosters in the league, the Falcons remained competitive in most contests last year, and Keith Smith’s run blocking was certainly a factor in that.

He’ll be entering his 10th year in the league and 5th with the Falcons. His role as a blocking specialist isn’t his only value, though. Smith provides a ton on special teams, an often thankless role in today’s NFL.

Congratulations to Keith Smith and the Falcons.
