The Falcons are acquiring every Bears free agent available it seems. Terry Fontenot added Ryan Pace, the former Bears GM, to the front office, and it looks like Pace has Fontenot’s ear because the Falcons signed two free agents that played for the Bears last season — Teez Tabor and Elijah Wilkerson. Then turned around and signed running back Damien Williams, who also spent 2021 in Chicago. But that’s not all.

Atlanta hosted offensive lineman Germain Ifedi, who spent the last two seasons in Chicago, last week. Now, the Falcons are signing yet another Bears free agent in wide receiver Damiere Byrd, according to Jeremy Fowler.

Byrd is a speedy wideout who proved to be a reliable option for the Bears as a depth receiver but nothing more. On 38 targets, he hauled in 26 receptions for 329 yards and one touchdown. Byrd flashed a couple of times last season, including the game-winning two-point conversion against the Seahawks, but he didn’t provide too much contribution in the third phase of the game in Chicago, and as a depth piece, you have to be able to make a difference on special teams. Right now, the Falcons have receiving core of Byrd, Auden Tate, Olamide Zaccheaus, Frank Darby, Chad Hansen, KhaDarel Hodge, and Austin Trammell — a bunch of WR3s and WR4s.
