According to Aaron Wilson, the Falcons are hosting veteran cornerback William Jackson III on a free agent visit.

The former first-round pick spent the first four years of his career with the Bengals, who drafted him in 2016. The Commanders then signed him to a lucrative free agent deal, but his time in Washington was brief.

After signing a three-year, $40.5 million deal with the Commanders, Jackson was traded with a conditional 2025 seventh-round pick to the Steelers in exchange for a conditional 2025 sixth-round selection.

He didn’t appear in any games with Pittsburgh, as he nursed a back injury. Eventually, the Steelers released him. Over 75 regular-season games with 64 starts, William Jackson has accumulated 205 tackles, five interceptions, one for a touchdown, 51 pass breakups, and six tackles for loss in that span.

It’s interesting the Falcons are brining him in. Hopefully, this is only to get a file on the veteran, and there isn’t an injury in the cornerback room. The Falcons don’t have great depth at the position, so any injury to Jeff Okudah or A.J. Terrell could prove catastrophic.
