Falcons UDFA moves into the top 3 of Pro Bowl voting

NFL: OCT 15 Commanders at Falcons

It might be hard for Falcons fans to find the good in this season because it’s been extremely disappointing.

After undergoing a regime change, there was an understanding that the first couple of years wouldn’t feature a lot of success. 14 wins across those two campaigns while fielding a roster devoid of talent due to the salary cap restraints was encouraging.

Entering this season, there was palpable excitement among the fans, and there were legitimate expectations for a postseason berth. Unfortunately, it’s brought more questions than answers.

However, just because there hasn’t been a lot of team success doesn’t mean there hasn’t been individual success. In fact, there have been several notable performances this season that should be recognized in the Pro Bowl voting and a couple when the All-Pro Teams are announced.

During the first wave, several Falcons were voted inside the top of the fan portion of the voting — Keith Smith (4th), Jessie Bates (2nd), Younghoe Koo (5th), and Bijan Robinson (6th). Even more, most of those names experienced an uptick in the second wave, including an undrafted free agent in Nate Landman.

Bates moved up as the top-voted safety in the NFC. Koo slotted in as the 4th highest kicker, and Robinson ranked as 5th running back with Landman rounding out top 10 linebackers.

In the most recent update, Nate Landman rocketed up from the 10th-voted linebacker to the third.

As an undrafted free agent, that is remarkable. He’s been one of the few bright spots of an otherwise dim Falcons season. Here’s to hoping the Zimbabwe native gets a nod to the Pro Bowl!
