FanGraphs projects Braves to have the most wins in 2023

The Braves could have a quiet offseason. The winter will revolve around Dansby Swanson and what the club will do at the shortstop position. And though there are more tweaks to be made to the roster, Alex Anthopoulos extending nearly the entire core of the team has shrunk the offseason to-do list. Still, AA never sleeps, and as we’ve seen from recent reports of the Braves being interested in acquiring a catcher with three starting-caliber backstops already under contract, the front office will leave no stone unturned. Upgrades will be made, but FanGraphs already projects the club to win the most games in the 2023 season.

Following a disappointing ending to the season, the Braves are still expected to be one of the best teams in baseball. With the core of the team locked up for 5+ years, the starting 2023 lineup is just about set in stone, with the only real questions coming at shortstop, left field, and the last spot in the rotation.

Vegas has already put out their odds for the 2023 Fall Classic too, and the Braves currently have the second-best odds to raise the Commissioner’s Trophy this time next year, trailing only the Dodgers. For the most part, Atlanta knows what their team will look like. Therefore, Vegas knows the club will be one of the best in the game. Here’s a potential 2023 roster:

Starting Pitchers

  1. Max Fried
  2. Spencer Strider
  3. Kyle Wright
  4. Charlie Morton
  5. Mike Soroka/Kyle Muller/Bryce Elder/Ian Anderson

Bullpen

  1. Raisel Iglesias
  2. Collin McHugh
  3. A.J. Minter
  4. Kirby Yates
  5. Luke Jackson (if re-signed)
  6. Joe Jiménez
  7. Nick Anderson
  8. Dylan Lee

Catchers

  1. Travis d’Arnaud
  2. William Contreras
  3. Manny Piña

Infielder

  1. Ozzie Albes
  2. Dansby Swanson (if re-signed)
  3. Matt Olson
  4. Austin Riley
  5. Orlando Arcia

Outfielders

  1. Ronald Acuña Jr.
  2. Michael Harris II
  3. Eddie Rosario
  4. Marcell Ozuna
  5. Adam Duvall (if re-signed)

That’s a 2023 World Champion Atlanta Braves team if I’ve ever seen one.
