Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 10

Start ‘Em

Jameis Winston

Looking for a flier this week at QB? Jameis Winston is your guy. He may not be a winner, but he can rack up the yards and throw a lot of touchdowns on any given week. Winston faces off with the Cardinals this weekend, who have surrendered the most points to opposing quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers. He’s a top ten play in Week 10.

Phillip Rivers

Another QB that could be on your waiver wire, Rivers has a juicy matchup with the Raiders, who can’t seem to stop the pass. Rivers has had some duds this season, but against poor defenses, he’s a lock for a couple of touchdowns and close to 300 yards. That’s about all you can ask for from a bye week fill-in.

Brian Hoyer

Hoyer relieved Jacoby Brissett and tossed three touchdowns against the Steelers. I’m not advocating starting him, but if you’re desperate, Hoyer makes for an intriguing option against the lowly Dolphins. I like him to throw for at least a couple of touchdowns on Sunday.

David Montgomery

Finally, David Montgomery is beginning to receive the lion’s share of the touches, and this week, he gets to face the Lions (see what I did there), who are giving up over 4.5 yards per carry and have allowed nine touchdowns on the ground.

Derrick Henry

Henry is a lock for 20 touches and some goal-line carries each week. You can bet he will be the focal point of the Titans offense up against a Chiefs defense that has surrendered the fourth-most rushing yards to opponents. If the Titans are going to keep this one close, they are going to need to control the clock. The best way to do that? Feed the beast.

Marlon Mack

Mack is still receiving the majority of the touches out of the Colts’ backfield, but the results haven’t been stellar. I expect that to change this week against Miami. He only has three touchdowns on the year, which could double this weekend.

Larry Fitzgerald

After starting the season with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games, Larry Fitzgerald has come back to earth. However, the Cardinals are going to need to score in this one, and while the Bucs are stingy versus the runs, they generally let receivers run wild. This could be Fitzgerald’s best game of the season, and one of the few that you are going to want to start him in.

Tedd Ginn Jr.

The Falcons have allowed #2 wide receivers to put up video game numbers against them. A.J. Brown, Will Fuller, D.K. Metcalf, along with others have all had field days on Atlanta’s defense. I expect Michael Thomas to get his, but it could be Ted Ginn Jr. shining the brightest this weekend for the Saints.

Hunter Henry

Hunter Henry is going to be solid – health providing – for the rest of the year. When he’s on the field, he’s one of the best tight ends in football and should be starting in all fantasy leagues, especially this week, as San Diego takes on a weak Raiders pass defense.

Ravens defense

I don’t usually put defenses in here, but the Ravens are the play this week and could be available on your waiver wire. This isn’t the typical Baltimore defense we are used too, as they began the season giving up tons of chunk plays. However, they are starting to look better as they get healthy, and the addition of Marcus Peters has helped a bunch. Now, they get a matchup with the 0-8 Bengals, who are starting a rookie quarterback. Sign me up.

Sit ‘Em

Dak Prescott

Against bad teams, Dak Prescott is a fantasy superstar. Against good teams, you generally want to sit him. The Vikings are a playoff team, and their defense is the primary reason why. I would roll with a QB like Winston or Rivers this week over Dak Prescott.

Kirk Cousins

In the same game, Kirk Cousins goes up against the Cowboys in a primetime matchup. We know how those typically end up. There’s no way I’m starting Cousins this week.

Baker Mayfield

Let’s put it this way: Baker Mayfield is no longer a usable QB in fantasy football.

Russell Wilson

Start him at your own risk, and you probably are going to anyway, but I wonder how long Wilson is going to have to throw in this one. I expect the Niners’ defensive line to be all over him, looking to make a statement. If Wilson succeeds in this spot, he might wrap up the MVP after just ten weeks.

David Johnson/Kenyan Drake

Whoever gets the starting nod will most likely be in your lineup, but if Johnson returns, and these two are splitting carries, I’m evaluating my options. The Bucs don’t have a good defense, but their front seven is wholly revamped with some beef up front, featuring athletes at the second level. Tampa Bay has barely allowed 500 yards rushing this year and are some of the best at defending backs in the receiving game.

Devonta Freeman

You probably don’t have any better choices, and there is a chance Freeman feasts in garbage time, but I don’t like this matchup with the Saints at all. If the Falcons can keep this one close, I don’t see Freeman having much of an impact. Dirk Koetter has killed Atlanta’s rushing attack, and New Orleans is one of the best against the run.

D.K. Metcalf

I’m starting Tyler Lockett because he’s turned into one of the best receivers in football, but I’m giving the rest of the Seahawks’ wide receivers the week off as they face the 49ers’ defense.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Poor Odell. He just has not been himself in Cleveland, and we thought the Giants offense was bad. The Browns have not changed, and they are not going to have much success against a fantastic Bills defense.

John Brown

Brown’s been a nice find for fantasy owners, but I don’t like him this week. While Cleveland will have trouble scoring, they should do enough defensively to keep this one close. I see this game being something like 17-13, with few opportunities for the offenses to put up points. I’m finding a replacement for Brown this week.
