Don’t look now… BUT THE BRAVES ARE BACK BABY!

Saturday afternoon the Braves will play their first exhibition of Spring Training against the Baltimore Orioles. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southeast. For a full schedule to televised games for the Spring, click here.

We will get our first glance at Felix Hernandez, as he is set to get the first start.

Hernandez is looking to prove his worth in his first stop since Seattle and compete for a job in the rotation. With Cole Hamels seemingly behind in the process and likely to miss some time to start the season, the odds are in King Felix’s favor. But he will still have to prove he can handle the role, or the Braves may go wit a young arm such as Kyle Wright.

Hernandez should at the very least benefit from a switch to the National League, but has lost a ton of his velocity due to injury over the years. He will have to show he is healthy and can still serve as a backend rotation arm. The Orioles should be an easy team to pick on, and pitchers usually have the edge at the beginning of camp but it is the first game of Spring Training, so who knows.

Regardless of the outcome, it will be a pleasure seeing the Hall of Fame talent take the hill for the Braves. Perhaps we will get the first glance of hopefully the Braves catching lightning in a bottle on Saturday.
