Former NFL exec: Falcons stand out most among undefeated teams

NFL: SEP 10 Panthers at Falcons

The Falcons are one of nine undefeated teams in the NFL, but they aren’t the most surprising or most expected.

I’d say everyone probably expected the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Dolphins to be undefeated through two weeks. However, there are clubs like Buccaneers and Commanders that are probably a bit more surprising than the Falcons.

The Falcons, though, are the undefeated team that stands out most, according to former NFL executive Scott Pioli. It might seem a bit disingenuous for a former Falcons exec to pick the Falcons, but the point he makes about Bijan Robinson is certainly valid.

Pioli might be biased about the Falcons, but how can you not be infatuated with Bijan Robinson? He’s easily the most exciting rookie in football right now and is rewarding Atlanta immediately.

He was the highest-drafted running back since Saquon Barkley, and the selection was met with waves of criticism. Most people bashed the 8th overall pick, and maybe they had a point. Tyler Allgeier was under team control at a very modest salary and was coming off a 1,000-yard rookie campaign.

However, the very few that stuck their necks out and backed the pick, like we did at SportsTalkATL, are looking like geniuses. Bijan Robinson already looks like the face of the franchise and very well could break a slew of franchise and league records.

You can say what you want about picking a running back in the top 10, but the Falcons are happy with their decision, and their fans, even the ones that hated the pick initially, are fully behind Robinson after two weeks.
