It has been a long time since Braves fans have gotten to experience a winning club. It has been significantly longer since they have had a Home Run Derby contestant. This will change soon, as Freddie Freeman will be competing in the contest in the nation’s capitol.
Freeman will be the first Brave to compete in the new format of the event and will be the first Brave to compete since Andruw Jones in 2005.
The Derby means nothing, but it is great to see the Braves re-establishing themselves this season. The fans really came out for this team and voted that could be a huge reason why Freeman got the nod here. It will surely be fun to watch him compete.
Freeman says he has already texted Bryce Harper, who he will be facing in the first round, to talk some smack. Gotta love that.
