Jose Ramirez was one of the finer projects of the Braves rebuild, developing into a solid relief option with the team. He tossed two really quality years of relief for this team during the dark ages.
Unfortunately, it only took him two outings this season to land on the DL.
Ramirez looked awful in those two outings, and it is now evident why. His injury is considered shoulder inflammation, but apparently, he sustained a bad setback in June. Manager Brian Snitker now says he does not expect him back this season.
The Braves could really use another reliever or two, and Ramirez could have been a perfect fit. Now, this news makes it more likely a move is made for one more bullpen arm.
We hope Ramirez can bounce back and compete soon. He is not a free agent until 2023 so there is absolutely no reason not to play things safe and make sure he fully recovers and has no further setbacks.
