Packers expected to be without two key pieces vs. Falcons

NFL: SEP 10 Packers at Bears

The Falcons are gearing up to host the Packers today in Atlanta, and both sides are dealing with injuries.

Arthur Smith ruled Troy Andersen out on Friday, while Jeff Okudah remains questionable. The former is a tremendous loss, given the state of the linebacker unit. The latter missed Week 1, so he’s still looking to make his Falcons debut.

On the other side of things, Green Bay is dealing with a laundry list of injuries. Quay Walker has been in concussion protocol. Christian Watson missed Week 1, nursing a hamstring injury. David Bakhtiri hadn’t practiced all week as he is dealing with a knee injury, but that is likely due to him being a veteran. He’s questionable, though I expect him to play.

We do have confirmed reports from Adam Schefter that Watson will miss Sunday’s tilt, but more importantly, Schefter also reports that Aaron Jones isn’t expected to suit up against the Falcons either.

This is a huge break for the Falcons. Sure, they could’ve beaten the Packers fully healthy, but sometimes, it’s not about who you play but when you play them. Winning games in this league is hard enough.

Atlanta opened the week as slight home underdogs, but the injury news must’ve trickled down to Vegas because that line flipped on its head midway through the week. The Falcons currently sit around 1.5-point favorites.
