The Braves inked another one of their rising stars to an extension yesterday, signing Ozzie Albies to a new deal – first reported by Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic.

According to Joel Sherman, Albies’ contract is for seven years, $35 million. The deal begins this season, goes through 2025 and comes with two option years for 2026 and 2027. Each option is for $7 million, so if both are picked up, the contract is worth $45 million over nine years.
After locking up Acuña for $100 million and now Ozzie at a much lesser rate, it is evident the Braves’ are focused on taking care of their young talent. But by getting these deals done now at a financially flexible rate, they will have more money to allocate on free agency in the future, and possibly even this season. This is another intelligent move by Alex Anthopoulos and the Braves’ brass.
