Texans’ Jimmie Ward mocks Falcons and Desmond Ridder

NFL: OCT 01 International Series Falcons vs Jaguars

The Falcons drafted pass catchers with back-to-back top 10 picks. They made Kyle Pitts the highest-drafted tight end in history then turned around and made Drake London the highest-drafted receiver in the 2022 class.

Pitts broke a slew of records, including nearly setting the league mark for most yards by a rookie tight end. London broke Pitts’ franchise rookie receptions record, but their 2023 campaigns are off to a very slow start.

Through four games, Pitts has 11 receptions for 121 yards; he’s averaging about 3 catches and 40 yards per contest. London has a similar stat line. He’s hauled in 11 passes for 126 yards and two scores. That’s absolutely unacceptable.

The Falcons have Ferrari’s in the garage, but Desmond Ridder only has his learner’s permit. It’s not just us fans noticing either. Around the league, it’s well known that Atlanta doesn’t utilize its weapons properly.

Texans’ defensive back Jimmie Ward was asked what he sees from the Falcons offense, and he had a pretty hilarious take. “They got wide receivers… if they use them. I don’t think they’re trying to pass the ball.”

Well, Jimmie, we are trying to pass the ball. We just can’t. The Falcons and Desmond Ridder have begun to turn into a laughingstock around the league.

Thankfully, one game can shut the Texans and the entire NFL world up. Ridder has everything he needs in a supporting cast to silence the doubters. Unfortunately, I don’t know how confident I am in that happening.

This feels like a bounce back spot for the Falcons, but it also feels like a sloppy game that is won on the ground and on the back of the defense.

Everyone is laughing at you, Desmond Ridder. What are you going to do?
