The Falcons seemingly have an insurmountable mountain to climb in Buffalo

The Falcons are still playing for the playoffs, even if they need a bit of help. Atlanta is coming off a razor-thin victory over an undermanned Lions team. Although they’re sitting a game under .500 at 7-8, the Falcons sit only one game out of the Wild Card. They’ll travel to frigid Buffalo in what has to seem like an insurmountable mountain of a game against the Bills.

After a victory over the New England Patriots, the Bills are winners of two straight and lead their division with a 9-6 record with absolute control over their own destiny. Josh Allen has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league this year. What many people don’t realize and what Falcons will soon find out is how deadly he can really be with his feet. Allen has thrown for 4,048 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, but he’s also added 619 yards and four touchdowns on the ground as well — one of the most versatile quarterbacks in the NFL.

On paper, the Falcons stand no chance. The oddsmakers think so too. Atlanta opened as more than two touchdown underdogs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Buffalo covered easily. The Bills are an incredibly talented team who will likely make serious noise in the playoff on the AFC side of the bracket. Atlanta is scraping and clawing on the fringe of the playoffs but will soon meet their maker on Sunday.

It will be frigid and snowing; for a dome team, that could spell trouble. The Falcons will have to try and move the ball on a very good defense while stopping an even better offense. The only hope Atlanta has is for an absolutely dreadful weather game that forces the teams to abandon throwing the ball. Even still, the Falcons would be outmatched.

They’re just not talented enough to even keep this game close in my eyes, and on the road with a lot on the line, the Bills should easily win this game. They have the edge in every facet of the game, so the only debatable question is whether they’ll cover or not. Honestly, I expect them to win by three scores and easily cover.
