When the trade between the Braves and Rangers was announced, sending Jake Odorizzi and his $12.5 million contract to Texas, Braves Country was thrilled.
“Alex Anthopoulos has done it again,” took up my entire Twitter feed.
But as more details emerged, this wasn’t anything Braves fans should be celebrating. Apparently, the Braves are sending the Rangers $10 million in the trade.

This makes the trade a lot less exciting. Sure, the Braves saved $2.5 million in the deal, and they did acquire a potential piece in Kolby Allard. But the reality is the original trade that brought Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta for Will Smith was a terrible move by Alex Anthopoulos, and now the Braves are just eating their crow.
