Braves: Kyle Wright close to making his Spring Training debut

The Braves starting staff entered Spring Training with a couple of injuries. Mike Soroka continues to heal up from a minor hamstring injury that he suffered prior to camp. It doesn’t seem to be anything serious, but the Braves aren’t going to take any chances with Soroka at this point, which means he will likely begin the season in Gwinnett.

Kyle Wright has also been dealing with a shoulder issue, which has been bothering him over the last several years. He received a cortisone shot this offseason, which is why his Spring Training debut has been delayed. The good news is Wright says he’s feeling healthier than ever, and Mark Bowman reports he could be ready to make his first appearance of Spring as early as next week.

With only three weeks left before the start of the regular season, Kyle Wright may have to miss his first turn through the rotation. However, it doesn’t appear it will be anything more than that. The Braves expect their 21-game winner from a year ago to be on the mound in April, and they hope the added strength in his shoulder could lead to even better results in 2023.
