Falcons: Bijan Robinson opens as the clear favorite for Rookie of the Year

There will be plenty of people bashing the Falcons for taking a running back in the top 10 of the NFL Draft, but what nobody will argue is the talent of Bijan Robinson. The Texas Longhorns star was the most sure-fire prospect coming into the draft. Outside of injury, his bust potential is just about zero. He’s going to be a star in Arthur Smith’s offense, and the early odds for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year reflect that.

Bryce Young was always the right guy to take first overall. He has star potential at the quarterback position, but the transition for QBs to the NFL is much more difficult than it is with running backs.

The Falcons are living proof of that. They just had a running back rush for over 1,000 yards in Tyler Allgeier, who thrived in Arthur Smith’s offense, especially at the end of the season. However, there is a reason why Allgeier was a fifth-round selection and many are calling Bijan Robinson the best running back prospect since Adrian Peterson.

With the Falcons, Bijan Robinson will have the opportunity to be a genuine MVP candidate. He’s a versatile chess piece that should touch the ball around 20-30 times every game. Given his potential and the offense he will be a part of, I only see his odds of winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award getting devalued as the season inches closer.
