Falcons – Lions is the ‘hardest game to pick’ in Week 3

NFL: AUG 05 Atlanta Falcons Training Camp

The Falcons have been favorites in each of their first two games, but that’s changing as they travel to Detroit to take on the hard-nosed Lions.

Dan Campbell‘s club is currently more than field goal betting favorites, but it’s giving media pundits a headache to pick the winner regardless of what Vegas is saying.

On NFL Network, Good Morning Football host Kyle Brandt described this one as the hardest game to pick in Week 3.

This is a difficult one to predict. The Falcons are riding high after a comeback win over the Packers; Desmond Ridder is coming off the best quarter of his brief career, and Bijan Robinson has come as advertised. That’s not the strength of this team, though. The new-look defense led by Ryan Nielsen has been a revolution in Atlanta.

On the other hand, the Lions pose a great threat offensively. Jared Goff is playing like a top 10 quarterback behind one of the best offensive lines in football. Detroit has adopted Dan Campbell’s identity and plays a similar brand of football as Arthur Smith’s squad.

The Falcons will once again have the health advantage, though, as their opponents come into this contest hobbled. C.J. Gardner-Johnson and James Houston were just placed on the injured reserve. Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Taylor Decker, Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, and Josh Reynolds are nursing their own injuries.

Similar to Falcons fans, Lions fans have been waiting for a competitive team for a long time. Ford Field will surely be rocking. Arthur Smith’s first road game will tell us a lot about what this season could be for Atlanta. This is shaping up to be one of the better Week 3 games.
