On Tuesday, the NFL revealed every team’s nominee for the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which was first established in 1970 and was renamed after the Hall of Famer in 1999. It is the league’s most prestigious honor and recognizes what players do in their communities. Usually, players are dedicated to helping their hometowns or team communities in a way that provides hope for many people.

All nominees receive a $40,000 donation to a charity of choice, but the winner will receive another $250,000, courtesy of the NFL Foundation and Nationwide. The Falcons nominated Mike Davis, who is from Atlanta. After signing with his hometown team this past offseason, Davis has been a constant in the community, giving time and money to the youth of Atlanta. The Mike Davis Foundation of Hope held a free youth football camp this Summer for more than 200 kids, but he also supported back-to-school shopping for kids in need.

“It’s been a great feeling this whole time ever since the Falcons signed me, especially with the way the community embraced me and how much I’m able to give back to the community,” Mike Davis said. “I just want to say thank you to everybody. I’m grateful and I can’t wait to do more.”
