The Falcons take on the Lions in a Week 3 matchup as they aim to kick off their 2023 season 3-0.
As we’ve talked about all week, this will be the Falcons toughest test to date, particularly defensively. The Lions offense is no fluke. Jared Goff is a top-10 quarterback and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will be a head coach in this league one day. Even with some critical pieces missing with injuries, the Falcons defense will have to be at their best if they want to slow down Detroit.
On the flip side, Atlanta’s offense should be able to pose a lot of problems for the Lions defense as well. Desmond Ridder is coming off the best quarter of football in his young career, leading the Falcons to a comeback win over the Packers. Atlanta could also be with Cordarrelle Patterson for the first time all season, which is just another shiny toy for Arthur Smith to utilize.
While the Lions offense will be the best the Falcons have faced all season, the defense will be the worst, which should make for a much different type of game than we’ve seen in the first two weeks. So, who wins?
