The Falcons could have already used some extra help with their pass rush, but today, the level of desperation has increased in an instant.

The Falcons have released a statement saying that they are taking these allegations “very seriously”, and I personally doubt that Mingo is ever going to suit up for Atlanta. My co-host of Talkin’ Birdy Matt Karoly talked about the logistics of Mingo’s deal, and what will happen if the Falcons decide to move on:
$1.1M of the $1.25M owed to KeKe Mingo is guaranteed; however, I’m sure the #Falcons can get out of that in a case like this. Let’s go shopping for edge rushers!

Of course, the market for pass rushers isn’t as flush as it was a few months ago. Regardless, the Falcons still have about $8.6 million in cap space. Perhaps a guy like Justin Houston, Melvin Ingram, or Olivier Vernon would be enticed by the idea of working with Dean Pees and a still solid Falcons roster. I would have liked to have signed one of these guys even before Mingo’s legal issues, but now, it’s seeming like more of a need than a want.
