During the regular season at least, the Braves were by far the best team in baseball. It didn’t end the way everyone wanted come October, but they are once again set up to make a run at the World Series in 2024. Right now, FanGraphs sees the Braves as the best team in baseball, and it’s not particularly close.
Projected 2024 wins
(FanGraphs right now 👈):98 ATL
91 HOU
90 TB
89 NYY

85 MIN
84 LAD BAL
83 SEA NYM TEX MIA
82 ARI BOS
81 CLE MIL

Of course, there’s still plenty of work to be done around the league, and the Braves themselves could even potentially have one more significant move up their sleeve when it comes to their rotation. It’s possible Atlanta goes into the season expected to win over 100 games, which would be the third season in a row they have reached that mark.
As far as the NL East, the Philadelphia Phillies are projected to finish in second by FanGraphs with 86 wins. That’s a full 12 game difference, and it doesn’t look like Philadelphia is in line to make another huge addition. I think that’s a bit low, but the Braves will once again be massive favorites to win their seventh consecutive NL East title.
Just behind the Phillies are the Marlins and Mets, who are each projected to win 83 games by FanGraphs. That sounds about right, but keep an eye on the Washington Nationals. They are only projected to win 68 games, but they finished last season strong and have a lot of young talent coming up. It may not happen this year, but they are not too far off from bursting onto the scene and competing for a playoff spot again.
