Earlier this week, former Braves starter Julio Teheran elected free agency after opting out of his minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. Teheran was struggling with the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas, posting a 5.63 ERA over 40 starts. That gamble paid off, as he has now signed a major league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Like the Braves, the Brewers are a good team who has seen their rotation ravaged by injuries. For that same reason, I thought the Braves would consider a reunion with Teheran.
However, he’s headed to Milwaukee, which has had success with former Braves in 2023. Bryse Wilson has a 2.92 ERA with the big league club in 2023, even notching two saves. He’s also a lot younger than Teheran, but he should provide them with, at worst, a couple of mop up innings. Teheran is still tied for the most consecutive opening day starts in Braves history with six, and I hope he finds some success in Milwaukee and revives his career.
