The Falcons have plucked a slew of coaches from the Rams staff this offseason, most notably Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson. Morris was the Rams defensive coordinator for three years before being named the head coach of the Falcons while Zac Robinson was the quarterbacks coach under Sean McVay.
With Robinson now the offensive coordinator in Atlanta, a void opened up within the Rams organization, and they returned the favor by hiring former Falcons offensive coordinator Dave Ragone to fill it.

Ragone was the Falcons offensive coordinator all three years under Arthur Smith. Given he wasn’t calling plays (Smith was), his primary responsibility was working with the quarterbacks. The results don’t exactly serve as a glowing review for his work, but I’m not sure anybody could have helped guys like Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, and Taylor Heinicke perform like a competent starting quarterback.
Ragone’s NFL coaching career began in Tennessee as their wide receivers coach before becoming their quarterbacks coach two years later. He also served as the Chicago Bears quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator from 2016 to 2020 before joining the Falcons staff. Now, Ragone will get an opportunity to prove himself again in Los Angeles coaching Matthew Stafford under Sean McVay. It’s a dream opportunity for a coach hoping to work his way back up the ladder.
Ragone, along with Arthur Smith, got a lot of flack for the lack of results in Atlanta, but the former Falcons offensive coordinator landing in Los Angeles under McVay should quickly boost his stock. It seems like everything McVay touches turns to gold; Ragone could be next.
